MEXICO 2024

Between February 23-28 2024, our team our team visited Puebla, Mexico to support our international partner in their vital work of spaying and neutering local community dogs, as well as providing much-needed support to the local animal shelter in the area.

Over the course of just two days, our team successfully spayed and neutered 165 dogs and cats. This crucial work helps control the local stray population and ensures healthier, happier lives for these animals. Our clinic was bustling with activity, supported by 13 dedicated SOS team members, 2 Doggo team members, 3 skilled veterinarians, and several medical helpers. Together, we provided comprehensive care and attention to every animal that came through the doors.

Every dog owner who visited the clinic left with a new collar and leash, generously donated by our community. We also took the time to clip nails, groom dogs, and send home brushes for those with longer hair to ensure continued care. In addition, each dog owner received a 2L bag of food, purchased locally with funds donated by our supporters. We were deeply moved by the dedication of the local community. Families brought their beloved pets to the clinic, often taking time off work and spending long hours to ensure their animals received the care they needed. Their love and commitment to their pets were truly inspiring.

During our time at the clinic, we took in three stray puppies who urgently needed help. Pequito and his friends are now receiving the medical attention they need and will be flying to us this spring for a chance at a new life.

We spent two days at our partner shelter, Funkytown, where we met with the dogs that would be joining our SOS family. We also identified several new dogs that will be making the journey to us in the coming months. Additionally, we sponsored food for the 350 dogs living at Funkytown, ensuring they were well-fed during the week we were on-site. 21 dogs made the journey back with us, and we’ve identified 15-20 more dogs that will be joining us on future trips scheduled for March and April.
