PATTY POU

Female | 10 years old | 20 pounds | Medium energy | Preferably no other animals | Likely fine with older kids | From Hamilton | Fostered in North York | Playful & affectionate

Meet Patty Pou! This sweet 10-year-old Pug/Beagle mix (we think!) is ready to find her forever home! Patty’s journey took a tough turn when she was surrendered to an Ontario shelter for euthanasia. Thankfully, the shelter discovered that Patty had no behavioral or medical concerns and reached out to her family for a rescue placement instead. Now she’s ready for her forever family!

With a youthful spirit, Patty thrives on love and attention, and one of her favorite activities is playing with toys. Her ideal day would include 2-3 30-minute walks, playtime, and cozy cuddle sessions. She’s learning commands like “sit” and “paw,” and her happy wiggle and warm smile are sure to brighten your day.

While she is crate trained and sleeps well through the night, she can experience anxiety during the day, leading to barking or whining when crated for extended periods. She can be left alone for a few hours, but potential adopters should be mindful of her needs, especially in an apartment or townhouse where noise could be an issue.

Patty is a playful and affectionate companion who loves to meet new people—though she may bark at first, she warms up quickly. Ideally, she would thrive in a home without cats or other dogs, as her strong prey drive has led to some challenging interactions. While she is likely fine with older kids who can handle her excitement, she may need guidance to manage her playful energy.

Patty is on a special urinary diet, so it’s important for adopters to consider this when budgeting for her care. After everything she’s been through, Patty is ready to enjoy her golden years in a loving home that understands her unique personality and needs. If you’re looking for a devoted companion, Patty is the perfect match!
