Mexico Fundraiser 2024
12 passionate Save Our Scruff team members headed to Mexico this February. There, we’ll be taking part in a spay-and-neuter campaign and visiting our biggest rescue partner, The Doggo Project, and their shelter, Funkytown.
This Mexico trip is focused on increasing our team’s awareness and understanding of the needs surrounding our rescue partners. In doing so, we can take that education home with us to our larger team and community to learn how to make a bigger impact.
Ways to help
Donate to our campaign
Our main mission on site will be to host a spay and neuter clinic to help reduce overpopulation and unwanted animals that continue to fill our partner's shelter. Secondly, we will be spending time at the Funkytown Shelter and will utilize funds to help feed the dogs, bring back dogs with us, and if able we will also help with fixing up some areas of the shelter. Funkytown is a shelter that regularly houses 350 dogs and 60 cats rescued from the streets of Mexico.

As well as hosting our spay and neuter clinic, we will also be bringing 20 dogs back with us. 10 will land on Feb 28th with a further 10 arriving on Feb 29th, sign up to foster a pup when they arrive. More info here
"Travelling to Puebla with Save Our Scruff was the best kind of adventure. When we piled into our giant van in Mexico City and hit the road I already felt like I was part of a big family, even though I’d met most of the team an hour before. Through the magical winding mountainous landscape we drove to arrive in beautiful Puebla. From meeting the amazing coordinator Gaby, to visiting local shelters, and the clinic itself, the whole experience was seamless. The clinic was more heartwarming than I ever could have expected. Of course it was exciting to meet almost 300 dogs and cats over the course of 3 days, but the owners were what really made it special. Despite the language barriers I was easily able to understand that they truly loved their animals. It was so touching to see them faithfully waiting by their sides for hours as they recovered from surgery. They trusted us to take care of one of their family members and were so appreciative for everything we did. It really was a true team effort.”
